Transforming barren land into a vibrant, green workshop from the ground up…

The garden studio is designed as a workspace nestled in nature, where the countryside blends with historical textures and each day brings a new view. Located in Urla Kamanlı, this small-scale project harmonizes with the natural character of its 2,500 sqm site. Implemented in 2022, the project involved soil reclamation, infrastructure development, the design of an enclosed work cabin, and the creation of landscaped areas designated for various uses. These efforts were realized through the collaboration of local craftsmen and the collective labor of the users.

All projects carried out within the scope of the studio are developed with an in-situ design approach. This approach enables the creation of solutions that evolve over time through close observation of the site-specific conditions, typically incorporating local materials and addressing needs identified during the process of use.

Expoling Materials – “Born from the Earth

Rooted in the earth and inspired by the rhythms of nature, these works emerge from a deep dialogue with the land itself. It encompasses works that are grounded in the earth and inspired by nature itself. With an approach that seeks the essence of sustainable and natural materials in the soil, it views this connection as an opportunity to rediscover materials through design and art. “Born from the Earth” involves reinterpreting raw materials such as various types of soil, plant fibers, bark, stones, and tree trunks, along with recyclable natural elements, to give them new forms.

Design Products – “Slow Design”

It focuses on projects of varying scales that are shaped in harmony with nature, their geography, and the essence of their craft. In contrast to the fast-paced world of design—where objects are often consumed faster than they are produced—it offers hand-crafted pieces that are slow to consume, meant to be lived with, to age alongside, and rich in emotion and meaning.

Each design is a product of time and patience, rooted in reflection, observation, and a deep understanding of place and user. The goal is to create designs that merge art with craft and integrate them seamlessly into daily life. Inspired by local production and the built environment, each work blends traditional techniques with contemporary applications. In doing so, it fosters a lasting relationship between object or space and its user—one that deepens over time.
